WELDER QUALIFICATION

Course Details

Welding Standards:

A Welder training program can be developed to meet the organization's needs and based on complying Weld Test results the Welder/s can be qualified to the following Welding Standards:

  • AS/NZS 1554.1
  • AS/NZS 1554.3
  • AS/NZS 1554.6
  • AS/NZS 2980
  • AS 3992 and/or
  • ISO 9606-1

Training Location:

All Welder training shall be tailored to the organization's requirements and shall be performed at the welder's workplace.

Training and Testing Date/Time:

Training date/s and time is flexible to accommodate the organization and welder. Actual training time can vary.

Welding Processes:

Practical welding training is provided to comply with new or approved Welding Procedure Specifications using either MMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW or a combination of these welding processes.

Equipment:

All welding equipment, grinders, consumables and materials, including practice materials and test pipes/plates/welding consumables, to be provided by the organization or the welder.

Material Certification:

All materials including welding consumables used for the 'Weld Test/s' shall be verified by a Material Test Certificate or Certificate of Conformance, which require to be provided by the organization or the welder.

Assessment Process:

Test welds shall be visually assessed at the completion of the test welding and based on complying results shall progress to a NATA laboratory for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) or Mechanical Testing or both as required by the nominated Welding Standard.

In the event a Test Weld does not comply at the visual assessment stage or the NATA laboratory assessment, the Test Weld can be repeated at an agreed time after further training as applicable.

Assessment Criteria:

Assessment criteria to be applied shall be in accordance with the nominated Welding Standard and/or specific Project criteria.

Welder Certificate:

Based on complying results for visual assessment and NDT/Mechanical Testing as applicable, a Welder's Certificate is issued based on the nominated Welding Standard. The Welder's Certificate shall detail the test weld/s performed and the welder's range/s of qualification relative to the referenced Welding Standard and/or specific project specifications.

Costing:

Costs shall be tailored for each enquiry due to the variables involved. Variables include:

Workplace location, Welding Standard, Welding Process, Welder's ability and Number of Welders to Train/Test.
