Course Summary

Delivery - This course consists of two parts:

Theory delivery and assessments - The theory delivery and assessments will be done online. Students will be given for each unit a Learner Guide and a Power Point where all the theory is explained. Once students have gone through the theory content, they can then progress to the Theory Assessment. Theory Assessments is usually around 2h and consist in a series of questions that include short answer, multiple choice, matching and essay questions.

Practical delivery and assessments - The practical delivery and assessments will be done face to face. The total recommended time for practical delivery and assessments is 60h. In the practical delivery students will be shown how to install, fault find, calibrate and maintain equipment for pressure, level, flow and temperature measurement. They will also do PLC installation, fault finding and programming. For each unit, after practical delivery, students will have to do a practical assessment, where the trainer will supervise them while they have to follow a list of instructions for working with the equipment and answer questions (usually measurements, quick calculations,...), relating to the type of work an instrumentation technician is expected to do on field.
