Course Summary

Get qualified with Get Skilled by completing our Certificate III in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration. Learn how to select, install, test, commission, fault find and repair refrigeration systems and air conditioning systems and become dual trade qualified.


This course meets the regulatory requirements handling refrigerants and leads to a licenced outcome with the Australia Refrigeration Council (ARC) for RAC01 - Refrigerant handling licence – qualified persons (Full refrigeration and air conditioning licence: 2 & 3 years).

To be eligible to complete this qualification with Get Skilled Training, all students must have completed the following
-Completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship within Australia
- Hold an 'Unrestricted Electrical --License with an Australian State or Territory Licensing Body
- Completion of Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems
-Industry experience working with air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Depending on your prior experience in refrigeration and air conditioning, the course duration may vary and is expected to take between 8 to 24 months to complete for workers who meet the prerequisite requirements.


There is up to 15 days of practical hands-on training and assessment at a Get Skilled Training venue. Workplace training installing, setting up, test, fault finding, repairing and maintaining and selecting components for:
-Refrigeration systems and equipment that apply to food storage and preservation
-Air conditioning and air distribution equipment in buildings and premises.

This course has an online theory component as well as practical training and several assessments. The online theory will need to be completed to demonstrate the student’s understanding of the content involved in each unit. This component can be completed at your own pace, and includes videos created by our trainers to assist you with developing your knowledge and understanding in installing, decommissioning, fault-finding, and repairing refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

The cost of this course is determined by your assessor during your initial assessment and ranges from $11950-$13500* for electrical workers. This includes your assessments, face to face training, catering and access to online training material throughout the course.
