Roundtable Event Highlights Women in Non-Traditional Careers

On 28th March 2023, Keystone Tasmania CEO Dr. Karin Mathison attended a roundtable event at Parliament House in Canberra, hosted by NECA National and Ms Zoe Daniel, the Independent Federal Member of Parliament for Goldstein.

Dr. Mathison and Ms Annah Fromberg of Contact Group (pictured) represented Tasmania, tabling feedback on key challenges and suggestions for government action.

Invited to the meeting were Members of Parliament and industry representatives from across the country, from sectors such as construction, STEM, and renewables. The meeting also heard directly from current female apprentices and employers, representatives of the @Electrical Trades Union, and the @National Association of Women in Construction.

The purpose of the roundtable was to scope opportunities to effectively increase national female participation in male-dominated sectors, and to inform a joint submission to the Office for Women, Department of the Prime Minister, and Cabinet, in line with the government’s development of the National Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality.

Keystone Tasmania is proud to be representing the workforce development needs of the Tasmanian building and construction industry in this important national forum.
