Course Summary
The Worksite Basic Skill Set, is designed as a gateway course for those who are new to the industry, this course covers of the following four units.
- FBPOPR2074 Carry out manual handling tasks.
- RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace.
- RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control.
- TLIE2007 Use communication systems.
What is Covered during this course:
FBPOPR2074 Carry out manual handling tasks.
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to identify manual handling requirements of a work function, use manual handling aids to lift or move items, and identify and assess manual handling risks.
Elements Covered:
1. Participate in processes to identify and assess manual handling
2. Contribute to manual handling risk minimisation
3. Plan and conduct manual handling
RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to communicate in the workplace in the resources and infrastructure industries and other industries with relevant work practices and procedures.
Elements Covered:
1. Plan and prepare for workplace communication using equipment and systems
2. Communicate using communication equipment and systems
3. Carry out face-to-face routine communication
4. Complete written documentation
RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct local risk in the resources and infrastructure industries.
Elements Covered:
1. Plan and prepare for risk control
2. Assess and identify unacceptable risk
3. Identify, assess and implement risk treatments
4. Complete records and reports
TLIE2007 Use communication systems.
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to use communications systems in accordance with relevant regulations and workplace procedures.
It includes identifying system features, operating a communications system effectively, using appropriate communications system protocols, maintaining equipment and completing documentation.
It involves applying established communication principles and practices, and using local technical, colloquial language and vocabulary in day-to-day communication.
Elements Covered:
- Check communications system requirements
- Communicate using communications technology
- Maintain communications equipment operational status
- Complete documentation
Training
All training will be conducted by a qualified staff member.
The Training will follow a set format and cover all Elements and performance criteria set out in these units.
On successful completion of this course, attendees will receive a statement of attainment for the following units.
- FBPOPR2074 Carry out manual handling tasks.
- RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace.
- RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control.
