Course Summary

This course is suitable for workers who are required to maintain skill levels in low voltage rescue procedures as part of their duties working on or near electrical equipment, such as electricians and crane technicians. 

This course can be contextualised to suit participants' specific requirements.

This course is also suitable for the general public, organisations and corporate clients. It will provide participants with the knowledge to confidently provide CPR and use low voltage rescue equipment to implement a rescue from low voltage conductors and equipment.

Suitable for persons working in any industry where low voltage rescue procedures are a part of their duties.

Long sleeves and long pants, Appropriate safety footwear

Content:

  • Principles of First Aid, legal Issues
  • DRSABCD Emergency Action plan
  • Management of the Unconscious Casualty
  • Airway Management
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Understanding the use of an AED
  • Safe use of the rescue kit
  • Maintenance of rescue equipment
  • Safe use of a fire blanket
  • Procedures and precautions to be undertaken when performing low voltage rescue
  • Removal of a victim from the source of injury
  • Movement of an unconscious victim to a clean safe area using the one man drag method
  • Dealing with burns

Assessment:
Participants' learning outcomes will be assessed using practical activities designed to simulate the work environment and written questions as appropriate. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
