This course covers the skills and knowledge required to load and unload plant safely, effectively and efficiently according to workplace procedures. Prior to performing the assessment, skills and knowledge should be developed for the individual plant. This can be achieved through completing the equivalent operator unit or being assisted by someone who has the required skills and knowledge.

This course covers the following skills and knowledge:

• preparation prior to commencing operations;

• isolating work area including displaying signage and erecting barriers;

• calculating volume and weight of loads • placing and securing loading and unloading aids

• moving plant onto and off trailer or float, halting at designated position

• securing plant to trailer or float

• slackening securing devices and removing in a safe sequence

• stowing loading aids • written and verbal reporting requirements

• maintaining equipment records Location: Assessments are conducted onsite using the workplace equipment.
