Course Summary

The Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) Upgrade course (contains units from the UEE42622 qualification) is for Electricians that have undertaken the previous EEHA course and are required to gain the latest units of competency or require a refresher course.

For electricians and the like who work or plan to return to work in hazardous areas; Coal Mine / Gas Drainage Plants / Food Processing / LNG / Timber Milling / Petrochemical Industries. It covers the principles of hazardous area classification, explosion-protection techniques, equipment installation requirements, inspections, and procedures for breakdowns and maintenance, with theory and practical components.

This course is identified as a recognised competency for an EEHA competent electrician to AS/NZS4761.1 in hazardous industries and it is also identified as being recognised by the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee for an Underground Electrician.

Content Delivery

Delivered in a 3 day holistic theory and assessment block.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will:

→ Be issued a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment in Installation and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas.

→ Become up to date in current legislation and the modern industry.

→ Renew your Hazardous Area qualifications.

Content Delivery

Delivered in a 5 day holistic theory and assessment block during the face to face delivery.

The Volume of Learning for this program will comprise of:

→ 40 hours of workbook reading (Not mandatory).

→ 37* hours of supervised instruction including:

→ supervised theory instruction and discussions.

→ supervised assessment activities (written and practical).

→ Up to 10 hours of capstone assessment (online) including revision if required.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment listing the competencies as per our website.

You will gain the skills to:

→ Take actions to limit risk of an explosion.

→ Prepare to attend breakdown.

→ Install the equipment and wiring systems.

→ Complete maintenance work inspections and documentation.

→ Conduct testing.

→ Select and check equipment, wiring and accessories.

It is the Students responsibility to provide the pre-requisites prior to enrolling including but not limited to an unrestricted electrical licence, Instrumentation qualification. Refer to training.gov.au for further details.
