Course Summary

Course Outline:

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to conduct telescopic materials handler operations safely, effectively and efficiently according to workplace procedures, including:

• performing pre-start checks prior to commencing operations;

• start-up and shutdown procedures;

• checking controls, brakes and attachments for maneuverability and serviceability;

• operating the telescopic materials handler;

• attaching and securing appropriate lifting gear;

• safe load shifting;

• selecting, fitting, testing, using and removing certified and approved attachments;

• transporting the machine between work sites;

• a range of communication techniques and equipment essential to the safe completion of the work activity, including hand, audible and other signals;

• written and verbal reporting;

• parking and securing equipment.
