Course Summary
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to operate a skid steer loader to load, haul and distribute materials safely, effectively and efficiently according to workplace procedures.
Please note: This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, individuals must either complete, or be assisted by someone who has completed, RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant, or equivalent.
The course covers the following:
- Pre-start checks prior to commencing operations
- Driving and operating the equipment to site conditions
- Stripping/spreading materials; backfilling; excavations; mixing materials
- Selecting, fitting, testing, using and removing attachments such as - multipurpose bucket; forks; dozer blade; backhoe; auger; chain digger; power broom; profiler; tiller/mixer; rotary hoe; hammer; asphalt cutter/saw; concrete cutter/saw; rake
- Assisting with loading and unloading skid steer loader from float/trailer
- Safely parking and securing equipment

Assessments are conducted onsite using the workplace equipment.
Duration:
Assessment is conducted over one day.
