Course Summary
Course Outline:
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to operate a backhoe/loader to load, distribute and place materials safely, effectively and efficiently according to workplace procedures, including:
- pre-start checks prior to commencing operations;
- driving and operating the equipment to site conditions;
- completing work using at least two different material types- mixing materials; stripping/spreading materials; trench excavation; backfilling; lifting and carrying materials; loading dump trucks/ wagons/ hoppers/ chutes;
- cutting/boxing;
- selecting, fitting, testing, using and removing at least two attachments such as - extending devices; tilt bucket; buckets; compaction wheel; ripper; plate compactor; rock breaker; broom; mower/slasher; 4 in 1 bucket and free/rock grab;
- parking and securing equipment.
- use a range of communication techniques and equipment essential to the safe completion of work activities;
- written and verbal reporting.
Location:
Assessments are conducted onsite using the workplace equipment.

Assessment is conducted over one day
Cost:
Assessments can be charged per assessment or as a day rate.
