Course Summary

This course is designed for personnel who use or may need to use a chainsaw in the course of the employment.

This course provides students with the knowledge and skill to enable them to safely crosscut trees that have fallen over.

  • Safety Features of a chainsaw and Personal Protective Equipment
  • How trees grow and why they fall over
  • Chain design and different types of chain available
  • Sharpening of chain
  • Chainsaw Maintenance
  • Identification, assess and manage hazards
  • Safe Manual handling. • Basic cutting techniques
  • Cross Cutting
  • Trimming
  • Boring
